Tottori Kani Festa
Relish crab dishes in a famous snow crab production area
Known for its sweetness and refined umami flavor, Matsuba crab is a brand of high-quality male snow crab. Tottori Prefecture boasts a high catch volume of this crab, and the Tottori Kani Festa is held annually in November to coincide with the start of the crabbing season.
At the main venue around Karo Port in Tottori City, visitors can enjoy crab soup, a Japanese miso soup infused with the rich umami of crab, served free of charge on a first-come, first-served basis. Visitors can also buy Matsuba crab and fresh seafood at the festival while enjoying a variety of stage events. The surrounding shops offer special deals and unique promotions, making the whole fishing port bustle with crowds of tourists.
