Watanabe Museum of Art

A museum that features samurai culture - a must-see for history enthusiasts!

This museum houses a collection of around 30,000 pieces of antique art. It was founded based on the vision of Hajime Watanabe, a doctor from Tottori City, who wanted to create an art museum where visitors can gain insight into Japanese culturequickly and easily.

In addition to items associated with the Ikeda family, feudal lords of Tottori domain, the museum also boasts one of the finest collections of military gear in the country, including armor and swords. There are also displays of valuable historical documents and luxurious artwork created by aristocrats and feudal lords in the past, alongside folk craft items that offer a glimpse into the lives of the people.

Various events, such as solo exhibitions by artists living in the prefecture and workshops based on specific themes, are held for limited periods.
