Aoya Kamijichi Historic Park
A historic park where you can experience the culture of the Yayoi period
This facility allows visitors to experience ruins from the Yayoi period (about 600 years from around the 3rd century BC to the 3rd century AD). The Yayoi period was a time when people transitioned from a hunting and gathering society to an agricultural society, and began using metal tools such as bronze and iron.
★ Aoya Kamijichi Site, a national historic site
This site is the remains of a settlement that existed from about 2,400 years ago (around the end of the early Yayoi period) to about 1,700 years ago. Various artifacts such as pottery and bronze mirrors have been discovered here, making it an important site for understanding the history of this period. It has been designated a national historic site.

■Guidance Building
This building displays the layout of a village from the Yayoi period and tools used by people at the time. You can see reconstructions of the Yayoi people based on DNA analysis, providing an easy-to-understand introduction to the era. You can also experience making stone ornaments called “magatama,” casting mirrors, and braiding ropes.
■Important Cultural Properties Building *Paid admission to the second floor
This building exhibits important cultural properties unearthed at the site.You can admire excavated items such as beautifully patterned wooden high cups, deer antler combs with intricate decorations, magatama, and pottery, which showcase the advanced techniques and aesthetic sensibilities of the Yayoi people.

The park comprises a reconstructed traditional Japanese "high-floor warehouse," built with a raised floor primarily for storing food. It also recreates the terrain and vegetation of the Yayoi period. The wetlands are home to a variety of creatures such as fish and insects.
