Tottori City Inaba Manyo History Museum
A museum that introduces the history and culture of Inaba
This museum displays materials related to the history and folk culture of the Inaba region (eastern part of Tottori Prefecture). The Inaba region is known for its association with the Manyoshu (Japan's oldest collection of waka poems, compiled in the 8th century). The final verse in Manyoshu was composed by Otomo Yakamochi, a poet who was assigned to a post in Inaba.
Inside the museum, visitors can learn about life during that era through the Manyoshu. It also showcases traditional folk arts and performances.
Various flowering plants mentioned in Manyoshu have been planted in the garden. Enjoy a stroll while admiring the beautiful blooms.
