Rakkyo no Hanabatake
A rakkyo field of beautiful purple flowers
Near the Tottori Sand Dunes lies a vast field of rakkyo (Japanese shallots). From late October to early November, the flowers bloom beautifully, resembling a lavender field. This rakkyo field spans approximately 4 km east to west and 600 m north to south.
Rakkyo are well-suited to cultivation in sand dune areas, making Tottori a renowned production area for this crop. Do try this local specialty.
[Important note]
There are farm roads around the rakkyo fields, but during the flowering season, rakkyo farmers are engaged in farming activities such as weeding. Please be considerate and avoid causing any inconvenience.
