Amedaki Waterfalls is known as a spiritual spot where ascetic training and worship have been practiced since ancient times. It has also been selected as one of “Nihon no Taki, Hyakusen,” or 100 Waterfalls of Japan. Within a primeval forest of beech and zelkova trees, the waterfall cascades down from a height of 40 m with a thunderous roar into a waterhole below, creating a majestic scene. There are 48 waterfalls of various sizes in the valley, and we recommend trekking to see them all.
At Tofu Kobo Amedaki nearby, you can savor delicious tofu dishes such as tofu, soy milk, and yuba (tofu skin), all made from local soybeans and the finest spring waters. We also recommend trying Tottori's traditional specialty, tofu chikuwa, a simple dish with a soft and fuffly texture and made by mixing tofu with fish paste then steaming it.
