Access from JR Tottori Station/Tottori Airport to Tottori Sand Dunes
You can get to Tottori Sand Dunes by bus, taxi, or a rented car or bicycle. The most popular way is to take a bus from Tottori Station. The “Loop Kirinjishi Bus” operates on weekends and holidays, so we recommend using a one-day tour pass as an efficient way of visiting other tourist spots as well.

From JR Tottori Station
■ Local Bus
From the Tottori Bus Terminal located at the north exit of JR Tottori Station, take local bus number 39 (Tottori Sakyu Line) or numbers 32 or 33 (Iwami Iwai Line).

How to take buses in Tottori Prefecture
・For local buses within Tottori Prefecture, board from the rear doors and exit from the front doors.
・Please take a ticket before boarding the bus.
・Press a “stop button” near you before alighting from the bus.
・Fares are paid after boarding. IC cards are not accepted on local buses operating in Tottori Prefecture. Please prepare some cash before boarding a bus from Tottori Station. There are no convenience stores or ATMs in the vicinity of the sand dunes, so we advise carrying a little extra cash for peace of mind. The change machines on buses accept coins and 1,000-yen notes.
*An unlimited bus travel pass called the “Tottori-han Norihodai Tegata,” which allows unlimited travel on local buses within Tottori Prefecture for three days, is also available, offering great value at 1,800 yen. See here for details (Japanese).

There are no direct buses from Tottori Airport to Tottori Sand Dunes.

Car rentals
You can rent a car from either JR Tottori Station or Tottori Airport.
Sightseeing bicycle rentals
You can rent bicycles at Tottori Station Underpass Bicycle Parking Lot No. 2, approximately one minute on foot in the eastward direction from JR Tottori Station North Exit.
There are two types available, regular bicycles and electric bicycles. Each type is available in two sizes (20 inches and 26 inches), making a total of four choices available for rental.
All bicycles are equipped with three-speed gears so you can go up and down slopes easily. We recommend these for cyclists with good physical stamina.
