Shikano is a town tradition and dignity pervade

Shikano downtown street

Shikano downtown street

Since the place was a castle town governed by the Kamei family who owned the Shikano castle, you can still see streets dotted by old houses with Kyoto-style lattice. Since it was a military base, there are many T-shaped, or L-shaped junctions, and a devised path to the castle. Moreover, there are many remnants from the early Edo period when commerce and industry were prosperous here. Although there are no noticeable mansions or shops, Shikano is a small castle town where you can relax yourself walking slowly in the town. If you ask for a tour guide, you will get to deeply know all about Shikano, where tradition and dignity pervades.
